Who wouldn't love the combination of crab meat and cream cheese fried in a wonton? This recipe is easy to prepare and your guest will love them.
Ingredients:
8 oz. Seatech crab meat
8 oz. cream cheese, at room temperature
2 green onion, thinly sliced
salt and pepper, to taste
1 package of wonton wrappers about 40-50 wrappers.
Oil for Frying
Directions:
Heat oil in a large heavy bottom pot or Dutch oven to 375⁰ F. Check temperature with an oil/candy thermometer. You want to keep the oil temperature as close to 375⁰F as possible for the best results.
In a large bowl, combine crab meat, cream cheese, green onion, salt and pepper, to taste.
Place wrappers on a work surface, keeping the remaining wrappers covered with a damp towel. Spoon 1 ½ - 2 teaspoons of the mixture into the center of the wrapper. Using your finger, rub the edges of the wrappers with water. Fold the wrapper over the filling to create a triangle, pinch the edges to seal.
Add 4-6 wontons (or what will fit without crowding) into to the hot oil and fry for approximately 1-2 minutes on each side until they are golden brown. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
Serve immediately.
Serving Suggestions:
Add a couple tablespoons of chopped cilantro leaves to the crab and cream cheese mixture.
Serve with dipping sauces.
