Chilean King Crab & Avocado Grilled Cheese Recipe

King Crab At Its Finest


I was working on recipe ideas one weekend for the crab meat packs we sell when my boys said they wanted grilled cheese for lunch. Everyone loves a good grilled cheese sandwich. We had a really good loaf of sourdough, Havarti cheese and a perfectly ripe avocado. While making the standard cheddar and sandwich bread grilled cheese for my boys I figured I would create a deluxe grilled cheese with king crab for me. The end result was the best grilled cheese I have ever eaten.




1/2 pound Ocean Kitchen Santolla (Chilean King Crab Meat)

4 slices of sourdough or rustic bread

4 slices of Havarti cheese

1 avocado pitted and sliced

soft butter to butter the bread




Take two slices of bread and butter one side of each placing them butter side down in a fry pan. Place one slice of Havarti cheese on each. Divide crab and place half on each. Place a layer of sliced avocado over the crab meat. Place a slice of Harvarti on each sandwich followed by another slice of bread. Butter the top side of the bread on each sandwich, place the lid on the pan and turn the burner on medium. Cook until pan side of sandwich is golden brown. Flip and cook on other side for 2-3 minutes until that side is golden brown as well. Plate and server warm.
